Course 8: Expertise in Monotheism I
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Creator of the universe created human beings with intelligent souls for a purpose, so they will recognize and acknowledge Him in the physical world, and that He is the only God. Therefore, in the very day and time that Adam was created as a living person, God commanded him about the prohibition of serving idols, as it says, “And the Lord God commanded [upon] Adam…”; meaning that God commanded Adam to submit to His Divinity alone.
This course presents an in-depth analysis of the command to recognize and know the One God (monotheism). It includes the prohibition of serving idols (which encompasses attributing powers of deity to any created entity, including statues, people, angels or spiritual forces, etc.). Anyone who does not recognize and believe in God (the One God) is a “deviant believer.” Likewise, anyone who serves idols denies all of God’s commandments, since he does not accept God’s Sovereignty, and he does not honor God or connect himself to God's True Existence.
